Donald W. Jacobson

I earned a BA in Theater Arts/Speech Comm. at UW-Oshkosh in 1985. I then moved to Minneapolis and soon gave up on professional theater for a number of reasons. Worked a few jobs then went back to school at the U of MN for Spanish, studying in Spain for 6 months in 1991. After (not quite) finishing my 2nd BA, I started a 15-year career at the Star Tribune that ended in 2007 during a mass buyout at the struggling paper.

I then entered the MA program for Mass Communication at the U of MN, for which I just finished the coursework. I have yet to write my thesis, but in the meantime I am looking for work and enjoying the summer!

At the Star Tribune I held a number of positions in Advertising, including Sales Rep, Call Center Supervisor, Operations Supervisor and Lead Business Analyst. I loved it there but it is currently a pretty sad place, as are many metro dailies around the US.
